Canada Diary - 04.12.2017

We  were staying at 9th floor of a multi storied residential apartment building having 39 floors.
It is evening now and  we  were desperate to venture out. Outside temperature was  near zero. We packed ourselves in multi-layered cloths and came down. The air was piercing. We  put our hoods on our heads. It gave a little comfort. After walking a distance, we  arrived at the nearest metro station - Scarborough. There is a mall at this location. We entered  the mall known as STC.

It was very cozy and comfortable inside being centrally heated. We put off our hoods down. There were show-rooms of cloths, shoes, jewelry and all what one could think of including a car showroom. It was sparkling clean.  There were ATMs, currency exchange counters and public telephone booths. Electronic stores caught my attention. I went inside and inquired about the latest gadgets. I found that all were available in India and there was not much difference in price. My daughter told that these were available at attractive discounts while sale was thrown open. She added that the next sale was due on Christmas.

We took the escalator and reached to the next level. Christmas was on its way and the mall had also been suitably decorated for the festival. I could see that  a level down below, one man was sitting on a red-colored sofa in complete Santa's attire. His red colored gown was giving a perfect match with the sofa he was sitting on. His white beard was giving a near-real look. A Christmas tree was glittering with small bulbs nearby. Couples were coming with their kids and filming them in Santa's lap at a price.

We walked around to have a look at the items on display at various showrooms. One good thing which I found there, unlike in Indian Malls, was the sofas provided in the lobby where you could sit and relax while shopping. I could see people from different cast and  creed. These were Muslims,Chinese, Africans, Sikhs, Punjabi and of course Christians. - all came from different parts of the world. They were  not carrying their luggage, rather dragging it in trolley. Little children were also being carried  fully covered in warm cloths in a specially designed trolley.

We were feeling hungry. I looked around if we could eat something. I did not find any food items that we could consume. We returned to our centrally heated apartment. I switched on TV to catch up with Indian news  while my wife and daughter prepared supper. A day had ended at Canada.
